It's been a while!
I have to admit that I haven't felt much like writing
recently, as grief does interesting things to your priorities and to your brain! On the times I've wanted to write something, I haven't had the brain
power to sit and concentrate... or other things come higher up on the list of
current necessities and blogging gets put on the back burner. Then, there are days that you just have to go in to survival mode when you can only do the basics and the desire to blog is a far distant thought.
It's been a rough few months with many ups and downs... and
although the "ups" haven't been as up as I would like them to be.....
I have tried to be diligent and consistent in plodding ever forwards, learning
how to create a new, different life without Heni. It's often been a struggle along
the way to search out those moments of joy that I mentioned back in a post I wrote
just before Christmas .
Those moments of joy ARE there... they just take some searching for right now. It's a purposeful activity. One in which if you engage in, opens your eyes and broadens your view.
Those moments often arrive when
At the beginning of this week on Bank Holiday Monday (a National Day off here in England) we decided to spend some respite time away from Heni and head further down south to a place called The Sculpture Park. The idea was to not only spend some quality time together as a family, making memories and creating traditions..... but also to get some ideas to incorporate in to my next project that I'm working on for Heni's birthday in July.
The Sculpture Park is the world’s largest all year sculpture exhibition which covers 10 acres, and houses hundreds of sculptures that are being exhibited there before being sold...and as a result... the park is constantly changing.
There are over two miles of trails that meander around...
Hubby has been away on a business trip recently and I had a full day of respite organised on the Saturday of the week he was gone. As usual, I decided to get out of the house and go do something with Daughter Number Two and The Hungry Boy. We love to try out new venues and seeing as we hadn't used our English
Heritage cards for a least a month or two, I decided it was time get
them out, dust them off and put them to use again in making some more memories!
We left Heni at home in the capable hands of Laura and set off on our adventures to..... Audley End house. It is about an hour and a half drive from where we live and so wouldn't have been a natural choice of places to go if Heni was coming with us....plus the fact that it would be a full day out.... long trips tend to takes their toll on her these days. Seeing as it was just the three of us we packed a quick picnic, stuffed it in a cool bag and hopped in the car and headed out...
